Even though I’m a little behind on getting my Catch the Moment 365 photos up on the blog, I’m still dedicated to the project, and so proud that I am taking a photo almost every day!
Weeks 8 & 9 were tough. The weather was awful, and I was just coming off a terrible cold. There were days where picking up a camera felt like a straight-up chore. I simply wasn’t feeling inspired at all. But things changed a little in week 10 and I’m really happy with the photos I took that week.
In my photography class, we had a 3 hour lecture on lighting, and it really helped me look through my lens in a whole new way. I hope you can see those changes reflected in this week’s pictures!
64|365CJ has the best light coming through his bedroom windows, for pretty much most of the day. In the mid-day, it’s a nice, bright white light. In the afternoon, it’s a soft, almost golden light that I love shooting in (more on that to come). This photo was taken just before his naptime, when he was snuggling up with his panda, blankie, and his Avengers blanket– his absolute 3 favorite things right now.
66|365As part of my natural lighting assignment for class, we needed to shoot some photos with backlight. This silhouette of B doing his homework is just precious to me, because I love the outline of all the features of his face. It also signifies a very quiet time in our house, which is rarity these days!
67|365One of the best parts of moving back to Chicago is getting to spend more time with my Grandma (aka, “Bubby”). B really loves being around Great Grandma Bubby too and I just love this photo of the 2 of them together.
69|365CJ has the most incredible eyelashes. I have tried to photograph them 1000x, but I can never do them justice. But on this particular morning, he was laying on my lap and when I looked down at him I thought, “I have to try again!” Nailed it (if I don’t say so myself).
70|365I may have *cheated* a bit this week, because 3-4 of these photos were taken on the same day. But they were so good I just had to include them all. This was another shot that I was trying to show backlighting, but with the subjects exposed properly in the foreground as well. It didn’t look fantastic SOOC, but with a little help in Lightroom, I think it looks ok. This was CJ and Tinley waiting for Daddy to come home from work. Melts my heart!
This photo was taken just after Cole woke up from his nap, when that golden sun was coming through the bars in crib, hitting his face just right. Dare I say, I even got some catchlights?! I am still working on getting that tack-sharp focus, but overall, this is one of my favorite photos I’ve taken this year. If only we could get rid of that *^&$%#@ pacifier!!!
